GROW Update February Half Term 2022

Half Term has arrived! While the young people on our GROW programme are having a break, we thought it would be a great chance to check in with Mike, our GROW Team Leader, to find out what they’ve been up to.

‘Another half term has finished at the GROW Programme and what an amazing time it’s been. The young people have been busy on and off the Farm and have been involved with a huge range of different activities and projects.

In Animal Care the young people have helped nurse the goats who have had a stomach bug. Despite the cold and rainy weather, they have continued to look after the animals to the highest standard.

In Work Skills the young people have been pulling up old paths, painting the shelter that protects our cob oven, and restoring an old wagon and dovecote. They have done all of this while also working hard for their Agored qualifications.

In Health and Wellbeing, the young people have cooked up some amazing dishes from scratch! They have been very inventive and loved experimenting with herbs and spices to produce some delicious food. We’ve also discussed the dangers of involvement in drug culture and looked at ways to boost our mood in challenging times.

The young people work hard to earn and save reward points during each session. With their points, they planned a trip to a trampoline park! It was fantastic – as you can see from the video below!

No two days are ever the same, here at the Farm, and we are looking forward to another exciting half term ahead! ‘
