Amelia Trust Farm Proudly Joins the National Forest for Wales Trail

Amelia Trust Farm is delighted to announce that we are now part of the National Forest for Wales, following the launch of the Llwybr Coedwig Cymru Trail — an inspiring new route that connects National Forest sites across the country and celebrates the beauty, biodiversity, and importance of Welsh woodlands.

The trail was officially launched by Deputy First Minister Huw Irranca-Davies and Finance and Welsh Language Minister Mark Drakeford. This initiative aims to bring together woodlands across Wales, creating a network that not only supports nature recovery but also encourages people to connect with the outdoors and experience the many wellbeing benefits that woodlands can provide.

As visitors explore the Llwybr Coedwig Cymru Trail, they will have the opportunity to learn more about the rich biodiversity found within Welsh woodlands. From native trees and wildlife habitats to conservation efforts and sustainable land management, the trail highlights how these environments play a vital role in supporting both ecological health and human wellbeing.

We were incredibly proud to have two young people from our GROW Programme attend the official launch event on Tuesday 3rd March. Their participation reflected the heart of what we do at Amelia Trust Farm — empowering young people, building confidence, and creating opportunities to connect with nature and the wider community. They represented the Farm with enthusiasm and pride, showcasing everything we have to offer.

To mark this important milestone, we also hosted our own launch event at the Farm on Friday 6th March. The event brought together our dedicated volunteers and trustees to celebrate our involvement in the National Forest for Wales Trail. We were thrilled with the fantastic turnout and the sense of community that filled the day.

The event was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the journey so far and to look ahead to the future. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate, and especially to our incredible volunteers. Your ongoing support, commitment, and passion are at the core of everything we do, and we are truly grateful for the time and energy you give to the charity.

We were also very pleased to welcome Rhodri Hewitt, National Forest for Wales Liaison Officer (South Central), who shared valuable insights into the vision and long-term ambitions for the trail. His talk highlighted how initiatives like this are helping to create a greener, more connected Wales for future generations. In addition, our Woodland Ranger, Matt Lory, provided an exciting update on the projects planned for the coming year within our woodland areas.

A special thank you goes to the Welsh Government for supporting the launch and providing refreshments.

It was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate nature, community, and the future of woodlands across Wales.
