New Wildlife Garden at the Farm thanks to Keep Wales Tidy

2024 started with the creation of a brand new wildlife garden thanks to Keep Wales Tidy.

At the end of 2023, we found out that we had been successfully awarded a wildlife starter package from Keep Wales Tidy. We applied for the package with the hope that we could use it to improve biodiversity and create a new space for visitors and volunteers to enjoy.

Last week, Elin and David from Keep Wales Tidy came to the Farm to work with Matt, our Woodland Ranger, and some of our lovely volunteers. Together, they build the trellis and planters for the garden and despite the cold, it was a very successful morning!

We would especially like to thank Matt and the volunteers who helped build the garden, it’s clear to us how much they bring to Amelia Trust Farm and we look forward to seeing how the garden grows. Projects like this are the reason why we love what we do.

Creating the new Wildlife Garden with help from Keep Wales Tidy

The wildlife garden is situated in the corner of the Cross Field, next to our ducks and geese paddock. The garden should encourage more biodiversity at the Farm. We hope it will also be an additional space for our visitors to enjoy watching birds and bees in the summer.

The wildlife garden will be managed by our volunteers with help from Matt, and we’re looking forward to seeing it develop throughout the year.

The new garden has dramatically improved our wildlife meadow area. It’s a great addition to the Farm and we hope visitors will be able to enjoy it! We plan to involve the young people we support, as well as our volunteers, in the management of the garden and I’m looking forward to overseeing its progress.
