We can’t wait to enjoy the summer holidays with our lovely visitors at Amelia Trust Farm.
You’ll be able to see our animals, stroll through the woodland, play in the park, pop into the café, and relax in the fresh air every single day – but we are also running a whole host of fabulous special event days and additional animal activities! There’s something for children of all ages, including the return of our incredibly popular ‘Be a Farmer for the Day’, and the brand new ‘Private Alpaca Experience’!

Special Event Days
Our Special Event days are a fun day out the whole family will enjoy.
Teddy Bear’s Picnic
Celebrate the start of the summer holidays with a Teddy Bear’s Picnic at Amelia Trust!
Join us on Monday 25th July for a special event day that’s perfect for a family adventure – and make sure you bring your teddy bear.
While you wander around our Care Farm and enjoy exploring the woodland, you can enjoy a free tractor ride, free face painting, and have a go at our lawn games! Children can take their teddy bear for a health check with our Teddy Nurse, and receive a little award for looking after their teddies. Don’t forget to say hello to the animals and give our new woodland trail a go. You’ll be able to play in the park, run free on the Cross Field, and enjoy the fresh air.
Bring a picnic and settle down at a picnic bench in the woods or on the open field, and enjoy a leisurely lunch. Or, pop to the café to grab a light bite or snack.
Pirate & Princess Day
Ahoy there me hearties! ‘Tis time to visit the Faaaarm!
Join us on Tuesday 9th August for a special event day your little pirates and princesses will LOVE!
Explore everything out Care Farm has to offer, including seeing the animals, wandering the woodland, and playing in the park. You’ll also have the chance to ride the waves of our fields (on a free tractor ride), have free face painting, and play our lawn games! Children can dress up as a pirate or princess, and visit our very own Farm Pirate for a chance to dig deep in the treasure chest and pull out a small prize. You’ll also be able to enjoy our farm trail.
Bring your own food to eat outside or visit the café for lunch, snacks, hot drinks, and ice-cream.
Gnome & Fairy Day
A touch of magic, the hint of a smile, and a world of imagination!
Join us on Monday 22nd August for a special event day little ones will treasure.
As well as the delights of our Care Farm, you and your family can enjoy meeting our Fairy Queen for a craft activity, free face painting, free tractor ride, and our lawn games. Make sure you take part in our season trail, wander the woodland, and see the animals too! There’s also a lovely outdoor park and lots of open space to let off some steam.
You can bring your own food or picnic lunch, or we have a café onside serving light meals, snacks and treats.
Animal Interactions and Nature Walks
You’ll have plenty of chances to spend time with our lovely Amelia Trust animals during the summer holidays. Our Animal Care team will be leading a variety of different sessions across the summer holidays for children of different ages – including taster sessions for little ones aged between 3 and 5.
Private Alpaca Experience
A unique opportunity for adults (18+) to spend one-to-one time with our gorgeous alpacas, Horace and Hufflepuff.
We are delighted to introduce a brand new adults-only activity for summer 2022. During your private alpaca experience, you’ll have the opportunity to meet our alpacas, walk them, feed them, and take some up close photos to remember your special day.
Perfect for friends and couples to do together, you’ll be with a member of our Animal Care team at all times, and see our Care Farm from a totally different perspective. This activity is perfect for alpaca-lovers, or someone looking for something a little different to do this summer.
Be a Farmer for the Day
Ideal for children aged 8 – 12 years to experience being a farmer for the day.
Back by popular demand! A huge success in previous years, we are so excited to reintroduce our Be a Farmer for the Day activity. A full day of fun at the Farm that is perfect for animal enthusiasts to experience life on a Care Farm.
Children will spend the day in a small group with one of our Animal Care Team, helping to complete essential tasks around the Farm. The day will be split into 3 sessions with a morning break and a break for lunch. Children can expect to get stuck in with a variety of different activities, and can ask as many questions during the day as they would like!
Children will need to bring their own lunch and wear suitable clothing – you will get muddy!
Parents will not be able to stay with the children throughout the day, but you are welcome to buy separate entrance tickets and enjoy the Farm on your own. If you would like explore the Farm after the activity, please feel free to do so as entrance to the Farm is included in the Be a Farmer ticket price. You can enjoy seeing the other animals, strolling through the woodland, spotting wildlife, and being in the fresh air. There is a café onsite.
What to expect…
- 15 minute: Introduction and Safety talk
- 1 hour: Breakfast time for the animals
- 15 minutes: Short break
- 1 hour: Time with the equines – meet our beautiful ponies and donkeys!
- Half an hour: Lunch break
- 1 hour: Enrichment with the small animals
Meet the Small Animals
Our Meet the Small Animals activity is for children aged 4 and older.
During this 20 minute activity, children will get the chance to meet and interact with some of our smaller fluffy animals. A member of our Animal Care Team will lead the session and children will be able to stroke our rabbits and guinea pigs. They’ll have the chance to ask questions and learn all about these little cute creatures.
Meet the Small Animals is an ideal introduction to animals, especially if you are considering getting a pet. Being with animals is a great way to build confidence and relax.
Meet the Reptiles
Our Meet the Reptiles activity is for children between 6 – 10 years old.
During this 30 minute activity, children will get the chance to meet and interact with some of our fascinating reptiles. A member of our Animal Care Team will lead the session and children will be able to get up close and personal with our lizards and snakes. They’ll have the chance to ask questions and learn all about these unusual creatures.
Meet the Reptiles is a great session for younger children who already have some confidence with animals. It’s a good opportunity for children to get used to reptiles and remove the ‘fear factor’.
Meet the Goats
Our Meet the Goats activity is for children between 8 – 12 years old.
During this 20 minute activity, children will be able to meet our gorgeous goats. Children will learn all about some of our cheekiest Farm residents, including what they eat, how they play and what they need to stay fit and healthy.
Led by a member of our Animal Care Team, this session will be fun and information with the chance for children to ask lots of questions and give our friendly goats plenty of cuddles.
Meet the Goats is suitable for children who have some confidence with animals, as our goats are very friendly and will love the attention!
Meet the Ponies
Our Meet the Ponies activity is for children between 6 – 10 years old.
During this 30 minute activity, children will get to know our two beautiful ponies, Buddy and Mac. As well as learning about what they love to eat and how they play, children will get the chance to groom the ponies and give them a cuddle.
The session will be led by a member of our Animal Care team, and the children taking part can ask as many questions as they like.
Meet the Ponies is suitable for children who are keen to be introduced to ponies in a calm and safe environment.
Guided Nature Walk
Discover more about the local countryside and wildlife in a guided nature walk.
Join us on a relaxed walk across our Care Farm and find out about the type of wildlife you can expect to find in the area. Understand why the habitats we have suit different animals, birds, and amphibians, and the best places to spot them. Find out about the different species of trees and plants on site and learn more about the local environment.
Our guided nature walk will be led by our Woodland Project Management lead, and you can ask as many questions as you like throughout the walk.
